The work the children have done this week has been great. From learning about the māori gods to learning of a Hangi. The children got to prep the hangi and then to eat the rewards. Some liked some kai but not all e.g. cabbage Our fridays assembly represented the end of te wiki o to reo māori.  We had some of our children perform in the kapa haka group and they were all amazing. This week has been absolutely TONGAN... Researching Tonga, singing Tongan, dancing Tongan and eating the delicacies of Tonga 'Pig on a spit'... We had Manurewa Intermediate school come and perform. Some of the children were ex-Rowandale children. It was so good to see them again. We also had our own Ceremony opening and it was so beautiful, and then our whole school assembly to share our Tongan learning. With the help of our parents and teachers our Tongan group were AMAZING!!! Here are a few photos of our week.. We have had lots of catch ups because week 5 we had a 'Measles' outbreak.. But that didn't stop our class from learning..  Our class are creating presentations in their groups of Inquiry. The groups are Joseph Parker; Jacinda Adern; Richie Maccaw; Steven Adams; Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Paris Gobel. They are looking for Champions that have made a difference to the community or the country. Thank you for reading our blog.

Learning Objectives Students will select an issue that they care about and craft a persuasive letter around that topic We have been working on building our paragraphs to form better stories.  Building our brainstorm with the topics that they have chosen. We are writing a persuasive letter. This letter needs to have the issue, audience, what we want the audience to do… They are to form a HOOK using 2-3 sentences to explain what they want done.  Researching the Ministry of the AREA.  PRODUCT of work will be published next week.
