WEEK 9 WHAKAPONO 20

\ We have been doing Exposition writing in our class and we have learnt that having our own opinion is sometimes good and sometimes not so good.  The reason I say that, its because it could lead to arguments between others. We have done an Exposition on 'Eating vegetables', 'Pocket money', 'Picking up clothes' and 'Hats'. We have been able to publish our work and place it onto a 'qr scan'.  He is some of our writing. Here is Jesslyn with her story  Anita with her writing. Paula with his writing. Thank you for checking out our blog.

The Hare & the Tortoise The school was given the opportunity to watch this awesome show. From the NZ Playhouse theatre show . The children watched the Gingerbread man and the Hare race?? Then The Tortoise ran with the Gingerbread man. Seeing who were the fastest runners. They were able to see that the Hare and the Tortoise could race and the tortoise could win.. With the help of the Pied piper, the Tortoise was able to save the Hare from the Pied Piper... using the children from the audience, it was very funny. Thank you for viewing our blog

WRITING IN WHAKAPONO 20

Image
We are writing about Expositions; which means we show the title; Overview of our righting; the argument of our writing and then the conclusion. We were given an example of one from our teacher. Title: Eating Vegetables Overview: Most children have to eat Vegetables. I don’t think this is right. Arguments: Lots of vegetables taste horrible. They can make us feel sick. Some children cry when they have to eat them. Crying makes Your eyes sore. We should be able to eat what we like. Cakes and lollies are much better. Our teeth might get holes a nd fall out. If they fall out, we can get new ones. Lions and t igers don’t eat vegetables. They are strong and they can run fast. Conclusion: Children MUST eat what they w ant. They should not have to eat y ucky vegetables. We are learning that the OVERVIEW - states the topic and the writer's point of view ARGUMENTS - are supporting the writer's opinion about what should happen

This is what we learnt from Fergie & Keira (DOGS) how to be safe around them. The 3 golden rules around dogs Ask the dog owner if you may pat the dog. (If the say no, say thank you as their reason may be that the dog may bite and they are trying to stay safe. How do we act or pat a dog? Pat them by their back away from their faces If a big dog came forward and starting running towards you and your dog -  keep your arms close to your bodies, look at your feet and stay quiet (don't run away) Getting up close and personal to the dogs Asking permission Thumbs up- it's ok Thumbs down - it's not ok Thumbs sidewards - maybe Dog behaviours - recognising and asking the owner it should be fine Do we put our noses up again the fence? Not a safe choice to do that.. FREEZING LIKE TREES - NO EYE CONTACT TO DOGS THAT COME UP FAST ASKING PERMISSION BEFORE WE PAT DOGS Than

This week we were celebrating our learning... Within our learning we have learnt integrity... This means to us in Whakapono 20 that if we have a clean environment, then we can learn with no distractions.. leading by example... We were again awarded with the 'TIDY KIWI' and on top of that we were also awarded with 'Great Blogs, showing our learning' We also had our Team merit children who had been doing great learning.. Anton Lilo for showing pride through his work and also Anita Malo for her consistent helping of her peers. We are very proud of our children and their accomplishments. This week we are also practising our song and dance we learnt in samoan language week, as we are leading the whole school assembly next week.  We are very nervous as this is our first time. Our leading children are Allan and Anita, Allan is very happy to be speaking in front of the school.  We don't wnat to give too much away, we will show more next we
