 WHAT A FIRST WEEK WE HAVE WALKED INTO!!...

 We have had Vagahau Niue and Diwali in one week. With all the cultural learning it has been a great first week back, and to top it off with the Earthquake Shakedown... 

         

Theme this year:
 Tokiofa, ofania, mokoina e vagahau Niue
Translation: Treasure, Love and Cherish the Niue Language.
So Tuesday we had our Flag raising celebrations with the singing of each national anthem, bible verses and facts of each country.

 Thursday we had our assembly celebrations with each culture dancing and sharing. We later went into our classes and had a shared lunch. That was so enjoyable and delicious.

Plan of action:
1. School siren will be sounded. Get your students to be absolutely
quiet .... students should not be walking around.
2. A pre recorded list of instructions will be played over the intercom.
3. Everyone needs to follow the pre recorded instructions.
4. The Drill will be over once the recording stops

Hello this is Geri (unknown how to spell her name) but she is our awesome dance teacher. She will be here every Friday teaching our children different Genre of music and how to use the elements in the childrens dance routine. 
Space is the first element taught today with the genre Reggaeton, Hip Hop fusion. 
The children really loved it, how did I know, they were listening and actioning it.

POLYFEST 2019 - Whakapono 20 week 6

March 15 2019 was a day they had all been waiting for... the unknown as none of the children had ever been really, as they were either too young or their families said no we are no going to polyfest... But this year and this week and this Day their little dreams came true.  They were so excited to see some cultural stages and to be honest they said they wanted to get some yummy food. Whakapono 20 had some awesome helpers, Mrs Losaline Tausala, Miss Manuel our Teacher support and also Mrs Rebecca Rigamoto, without their support we would not be able to do any of these out of class learning experiences. We went to the Samoan stage as Manurewa High which are part of our COL area performed and for my part the teacher, my niece who is the Head Girl performed as the 'Taupou'... SWIMMING LESSONS WHAKAPONO TERM 1

Yes we have started... We were given the ODD weeks so we missed week 1. This week however is week 3. We were able to use the pool, alas our first lesson did not go ahead as most our children forgot their swimwear at home.  Day 2 was better with most our children remembering, our lessons went ahead.  From reading our PRIDE rules of the pool, walking in safely into the swimming area and the pool our lesson was fabulously awesome!! Lesson included sitting on the floor Swimming with the board while kicking, then breast stroke with the boards They then swam without the boards doing the breast stroke They then did floating on their backs kicking, then with arms and kicking. Week 9 EOTC YEAR 5s

What is EOTC? Well, its Education outside the classroom. Starting last week Thursday our year 5s have had the experiences of doing outdoor activities they may not get the chance to do in their childhood life time. Day 1: These activities started with a trip to AUT Millennium North Shore. This where they were taught more safety water skills. They  were taught how to keep warm in water, float and huddle with a group if they were to ever fall out of a boat. They learnt how to get back into a boat and help others to get back on board. They were taught to kayak, using a paddle, to falling out and getting back to safety to hop back into the kayak. The children had so much fun in the water area. Later that day they also went rock climbing and learnt skills of TEAM work. These activities were dynamic!!.. All the children loved their time there.
