WEEK 10

This week Whakapono 20 were working hard on completing their ANIMAL  reports, their waka, which is a lead to growing their knowledge of their whakapapa with their buddy class, and learning about Anzac Day and Easter. 
It was a full on week, but the children loved learning about Anzac day.
They enjoyed working with their buddy class A6 and helping them with their waka too.

Their work is mostly on the walls and in their books... so parents please come and see want your child has learnt this term...
here are some photos of the week and especially having one of our children go to the Warriors game with his peers.. 18 children chosen and they loved it.. our winning box designed by the children and with Whaea Lena's help it took shape.

Also photos with the 'Attendance trophy' which our Team Whakapono were awarded with this term... Lets keep that up!!... and with our 100% children who have not taken any days off through the term.. Everyday counts..!!!

POLYFEST 2019 - Whakapono 20 week 6

March 15 2019 was a day they had all been waiting for... the unknown as none of the children had ever been really, as they were either too young or their families said no we are no going to polyfest... But this year and this week and this Day their little dreams came true.  They were so excited to see some cultural stages and to be honest they said they wanted to get some yummy food. Whakapono 20 had some awesome helpers, Mrs Losaline Tausala, Miss Manuel our Teacher support and also Mrs Rebecca Rigamoto, without their support we would not be able to do any of these out of class learning experiences. We went to the Samoan stage as Manurewa High which are part of our COL area performed and for my part the teacher, my niece who is the Head Girl performed as the 'Taupou'... The children were very excited knowing that hard work strives to becoming either 'head person' or becoming a 'Prefect' of a desired school they may choose. We then went to watch Mrs

SWIMMING LESSONS WHAKAPONO TERM 1

Yes we have started... We were given the ODD weeks so we missed week 1. This week however is week 3. We were able to use the pool, alas our first lesson did not go ahead as most our children forgot their swimwear at home.  Day 2 was better with most our children remembering, our lessons went ahead.  From reading our PRIDE rules of the pool, walking in safely into the swimming area and the pool our lesson was fabulously awesome!! Lesson included sitting on the floor Swimming with the board while kicking, then breast stroke with the boards They then swam without the boards doing the breast stroke They then did floating on their backs kicking, then with arms and kicking. The children were happy the day was beautiful to have their swimming lesson. Thank you for visiting our blog.

Week 6

This week we were celebrating our learning... Within our learning we have learnt integrity... This means to us in Whakapono 20 that if we have a clean environment, then we can learn with no distractions.. leading by example... We were again awarded with the 'TIDY KIWI' and on top of that we were also awarded with 'Great Blogs, showing our learning' We also had our Team merit children who had been doing great learning.. Anton Lilo for showing pride through his work and also Anita Malo for her consistent helping of her peers. We are very proud of our children and their accomplishments. This week we are also practising our song and dance we learnt in samoan language week, as we are leading the whole school assembly next week.  We are very nervous as this is our first time.
