WHAKAPONO WEEK 3

We have started a new maths initiative called DMIC Developing Mathematical Inquiry communities.
The children are put into smalls groups and are to problem solve sums using their voices and their strategies. This is for them to challenge each other and agree to disagree. Once a decision has been made the children are then to relay to each what the strategy was that they agreed on.
The group was mix ability and the children were able to learn a strategy they didn't think about at the time of putting ideas together.

How to teach DMIC
Children talking
Scribing
Agreeing to disagree

The children found this task somewhat tricky, they were all listening to Allan explaining his reason for his strategy.
